The Tags Column

  • 3 min read

  • Feature

By entering a list of keywords in the Tags column beside the hashtag symbol (#), you can create a consistent collection of tags to apply to your items on other Main Boards whenever you establish a Tags Column for a Main Board in your account. This enables you to have a pre-set selection of tags available to you at all times.

How to add it

By selecting “More Columns,” clicking the “+” sign to the right of your columns, and choosing “Tags” from the drop-down menu, you can add the column as follows:

Note: If this column type isn’t shown in the dropdown menu, you can access the full column center and look for it there by clicking on the ‘More columns’ button. Then, add tags by clicking on any cell in the tags column!

Even a Column Summary Footer is an option! To open the Column’s options menu, click the arrow to the right of the Tags Column’s name, and then choose “Show column summary” as shown below:

Each group now has a footer at the bottom of the Tags Column that lists every tag applied to the group!

Note: All other Main Boards in your account will share any tags you create there. On the other hand, Shareable or Private Boards maintain a distinct set of tags for each board. On the other hand, searching a tag that is present across all board types will return all of that tag’s results in Search Everything. What it doesTo rapidly see all articles that are pertinent based on their tags, use the search/filter bar! For instance, you can use the board’s search/filter box to enter the tag keyword (with or without the “#” before it) to filter the results for all items using that tag, as we’ve done here:

This feature is also quite helpful when you enter a “#” and the phrase into Search Everything and choose “Tags” in the filter options. Including Main, Private, and Shareable boards will produce all results for items with that tag across all boards you can access.

Note: You can map several columns into the Tag Column using cross-board automation (ex: Status). Nevertheless, mapping a Tag Column into other column types is not supported.

Change a tag

You can use the  “Search Everything” magnifying glass icon on the left pane above your profile photo to change tags. Choose tags like these from there:

The list of all the tags applied throughout your AtmosAI account will appear alphabetized. To change the name or even the color of your tag, click the pencil to the right of the name:

Note: Please note that we do not presently have the opportunity to delete a tag from your account. To accomplish this, we must enter each board individually and eliminate it each time it pops up.

Mirror your Tags

You can reflect related tags on a different board with the Mirror Column! In the example below, we linked our high-level board to more in-depth items in our low-level board using the Connect Boards Column. Finally, we introduced the Mirror Column to mirror our Tags Column in our low-level board. The tags for each item on our high-level board are now obvious!

Clicking the cell reveals a detailed breakdown of all the tags connected to that item.

Use case

Let’s imagine you have a number of task boards, each of which has jobs from different clients. One of them might resemble this:

Create a Tags Column and enter each client name as a tag for the appropriate items, as shown above, to identify all the objects connected to a specific client across all your Main Boards.

You no longer need to keep filling in the client’s complete name as an option once you’ve entered their name as a tag. Even on other Main Boards, it will automatically appear as an option from your pre-set list of tags!

Now, even if team members make their own Main Boards, you and your team have a consistent approach to link specific products with specific clients.
