Have you ever had an unfinished task for too long because nobody knew who was responsible for it? Well – not anymore! Assign team members to the “People Column” to your board to designate responsibility and accountability for each team task!
Add People Column
To add the People Column to your board, hit the “+” button on the far right of your board and choose “People.”
Assign Team Members
To designate a team member to an item on your board, click the item’s cell in the People Column and select one of your team members from the list. To add more people, just click into the same cell once more and add as many as you’d like!
Additionally, People Column allows you to assign complete teams to items! Instead of selecting each team member individually, browse for and select the entire team. Check out this article to learn more about teams and how to create them in your account.
Note: You can only select people who are members or guests of your account using the People Column.
The order of people displayed
You might be thinking, “When assigned, In what order will users be displayed in the People Column?” Well, that is a very good question! The users are shown in the following order:
- Board members, you’ve interacted recently.
- People you’ve interacted with lately but are not board members.
- Board members, you haven’t encountered in a long time
Customize it
- Rename it
- Restrict ownership
Once you’ve added People Column to your board, you can change its name to reflect its function. To change the name of a column, you just have to click on the title and start typing a new one.
Now, you can limit ownership to one, two, or three team members or make ownership open to everyone! This means your whole account or team can work on a project together.
Use Case: Limiting ownership can be very helpful if you want to let your team members sign up for things that have limited room. For example, a project that only needs two team members or three people to give a presentation at the next meeting!
View information about the people or teams who have been given tasks.
To view additional information about the people or teams designated via the People Column, hover over their icon within the column! By doing so, an “info card” will appear for the designated person or team to learn more about who is responsible for a particular item.
- When hovering over an assigned individual, you will see their name, position, time zone, and contact information (email, phone number, etc.):
- When hovering over a designated team, you will see details, including the team’s name and the names of all its members:
Get Informed
Depending on how their profile is set up, every person you assign a task will get a notification, so they know exactly what they need to do!
